RR Crossing Issues

The Possibility of No Railroad Crossings

This viaduct was built about 15 years ago. This is the intersection of Lake Cook Rd in Deerfield/Northbrook, IL and the Metra Milwaukee North Line. There is a Metra Station just south of the intersection. Prior to the viaduct there were traffic jams whenever a train stopped at the station, blocking the intersection. Now there is even more traffic on the road but no train delays.

Another rebuilt road/track intersection near the above Lake Cook Rd intersection providing drivers a way to avoid train crossing delays.

A view out the window of a Metra trian passing over a Chicago street on the Union Pacific North Line. There are no road/track intersections on the line until the north suburb of Wilmette. Imagine the traffic problems in Chicago if this infrastructure project had not been done over 100 years ago. Imagine the mess we are leaving ourselves and future generations if you don't continue to eliminate intersections.
